If I weren't self-medicating by googling "Earthbound Anthology" until it arrives, I wouldn't have found out about RPG Maker VX. My only previous experience was with the original Playstation build and that was a disaster. Hopefully this will be easier. I figured you weren't 100% serious about the "member of the press" thing but from what I've heard from you and from the authors of the book, an Earthbound fan of your caliber deserves one. Also, every joke has a kernel of truth X).

As much as I'd love to have an EB Anthology, I was mostly joking. I haven't really done anything to really deserve it... my contributions to the community were a short blurb about Earthbound from Nintendo Power that I scanned and sent in, and pointing out that Satoru Iwata, current president of Nintendo, had previously worked on Earthbound (this was immediately after he succeeded Hiroshi Yamauchi). So really, I don't actually deserve one. Maybe if my writing for this is ok, I'll still get one. >_>

I won an Earthbound Anthology a while back and should be receiving it shortly. I recommend trying to win one in a contest, as long as you bring something fresh to the table, that's the way to go. I have been writing and dreaming up a world comparable to Eagleland myself. I hope to self-publish either a webcomic or a graphic novel around it. What would be awesome, though, is to program a game around it. Thanks for the idea and good luck winning yourself an Anthology!

I find myself going back to replay the game every few years in spite of the fact I have virtually burned out on the whole JRPG phenomenon. Earthbound has charm that can make up for lots of the contrived gameplay mechanics that are forever embedded in the genre.
